Bluetooth LE without smartphones

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC2541, CC2540

Hello, I am not sure this is the correct place to ask my question, but, this is where your site directed me.

Question:

Is there a microcontroller that will allow Bluetooth LE communication without the use of a smartphone? I am looking for a solution to have a BLE iBeacon tag know when another BLE iBeacon tag comes in range. For instance, a BLE TV remote comes within range of the front door BLE iBeacon and then turns on the light on the front porch without a iPhone, iPad, or Android smartphone present.

Thank you,
Andy

  • Sure, the CC2540 and CC2541 can be both central and peripheral or broadcaster or observer. So yes, you can easily set up BLE communication between two BLE microcontrollers.

  • fredrik,

cc2540 can be both central and peripheral,

i have read in a article that at a time it cant act as both central and peripheral. for peripheral role and central role we have separate software.

with peripheral software the ble device acts as a peripheral.

with central software it acts as central.

    is it correct.

    please explain me

    thank you.

    regards

    kiran.
