Is IAR Embedded Workbench a requirement ?

Hi.

Since my university doesn't have a license for IAR Embedded Workbench, I'm wonderering whether there are other opportunities since my CC2540 is useless in this case. Can anyone recommend me a similar chip which also includes an accelerometer and BLE antenna, but doesn't require a license for IAR Embedded Workbench ?.

If you want to use CC2540 with TI BLES stack, IAR is the only choice. However, if you don't insist, you might try Cxxxx1x family.

Hey, TI. Just so you know, you just lost a 60k EAU opportunity with the CC2540/1 + BLE stack for of my client's new products because of your requirement for IAR workbench and the $3k price tag . They went with Nordic because the IDE/compiler were free. I used to be an AAE with you guys back in 2011, so I'd love to give you the business, but what am I supposed to do??

Hey Joe,

Our latest CC26xx device family, including the CC2640R2F, is supported by the Code Composer Studio IDE which can be downloaded and used for free.
