CC2541 Wrist based pulse oximeter

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC2541

Hello,

I am planning to implement a wrist based pulse oximeter (SPO2), I have came to know that the finger tip pulse oximeters are more accurate than the wrist based products. I have seen that, TI has developed Wrist based SPO2 device with BLE  as a reference design, Is that good enough to be followed and was that reference design validated as per the medical standards.

TI has developed wrist based SPO2 monitor using fingertip cap. why don't we can directly detect the SPO2 using wrist based device. Will this approach is suitable for getting accurate results as equal to medical SPO2 devices.

If i can follow that reference design, then i have an another important question. why should we have to use MSP 430 processor in that reference design. Can i interface the sensors directly to CC2541 . Will that CC2541 is capable of running the BLE stack with application code for reading the sensor and transmitting the data through BLE Radio.

Thanks in Advance
