To program the MSP430F5529 on the Audio Sink board you will need a MSP-FET programming tool.

We have both MSP430 Launchpad and MSP-FET and are using to program MSP430F5xxx.

The reason behind my query is can I directly connect the FET/launcpad to MSP430F5229 which is on the audio sink board to program, as F5229 will is powered @ 1.8V and FET/Launcpad will be powered @3.5V?

On BT-MSPAUDSINK-RD you have a  JTAG debugging port (J2) to which you can connect the MSP-FET430UIF directly and start flashing.

And for MSP430F5229LP you can directly connect it with a micro USB and flash it from your IDE.

Yes you can connect the FET tool to power and program the F5229. The FET tool has a programmable supply voltage between 1.8V and 3.6V.

Just an FYI though, on the MSP430F5229 that is soldered to the BT-MSPAUDSINK-RD board, the VIO is running on 1.8V and VDD for the MSP430 is on 2.8V. This is stated on the block diagram from the Wiki page.

Hi Vageesh,

For split rail devices like the MSP430F5229, you need to ensure that the DVIO rail is supplied before DVCC is supplied.

To achieve the split rail functionality, you must use an external power source to source the DVIO rail while DVCC is discharged, then you can connect the programming interface to the JTAG connector.

Going from a MSP430 LP I wouldn't suggest you use this method; if you have the MSP FET Tool.

we are also trying to program the MSP430F5229 on the BT-MSPAUDSINK-RD board, and we have acquired the FET flash tool.

What would you suggest to use to program the F5229?

Our goal is to program some control voltages with PWM and sent those voltages to analog components while also maintaining the digital audio output portion of the Audio Sink.
