Dear TI Folks,

May i check with you do you guys have any additional information such as test report or profile on power consumption for CC2543 application? My customer is especially interested in the "TI broadcaster reference design with iBeacon technology, CC2543-BROADCASTER-RD" power consumption.

Hello,

No we do not have this now, but the peak currents is found in the data sheet and the processing time is s bit shorter than that of the BLE stack running on CC2540/41. You can do some calculations based on the following material if you change the peak current values listed in the excel sheet:

I think the x-axis is advertisement interval in ms and the y-axis life time in years. Please note that this is a simple theoretical calculations and that life time vary with configuration and quality of the battery used.

As it's same topic regarding my customer questions, so I get here , Or kindly suggest me and I'll setup a new thread on this:

The CC2543 broadcast design have three periodic task, so does the other task (CAL, and DAQ) don't impact much on the power consumption? (The is the TX & RX is the majority and we ignore the other task consumption). Am I right?

Hello Louis,
The DAQ can be disabled. The CAL task will consume significant amount of energy if it is scheduled often, but the TX active current is the major contributor to the overall current consumption. The entire code can be rewritten as well to optimize and tailor to specific needs by reusing some of the lower layers (miniBLE_phy.c) and writing a custom scheduler and application on top. This was written mainly to target easy-of-use with a simple API on top.

The calibration routine can take up to around 4-5 ms to complete:
