A2DP vs A3DP

My question is:

I am new to bluetooth, so your answer cannot be to simplistic ...

If I have a TI (CC256x) device using A3DP, can I talk to a device that is implementing 4.0 A2DP ? I have looked over the A3DP documentation, and what I think I am seeing is the A3DP is local to the TI side of the wireless connection, to help with processing.

So if I use the TI stack with a TI hardware demo board, and implement A3DP on the TI side as a Audio Source, will I be able to connect to an industry standard device that is using A2DP as an audio sink ?

Thanks && Merry Christmas !

John

  • Hi,

    Yes you can connect to any industry standard device that is using A2DP.

    I think you have already had a look at the data sheet and understood the difference A2DP and A3DP.

    As you are new to bluetooth, the best way to get better understanding is going over the BT specification https://www.bluetooth.org/en-us/specification/adopted-specifications
