Need advice on wireless technology

Hello,

I would like to ask an advice on what wireless technology to use to control motor speed of an electric scooter.

The scooter folds into half so the requirement is that there are no wires going from handle to the motor controller. We tried to avoid wireless at first but seems that wireless is the only way as scooter is made from aluminum and mechanics is made in a way that does not allow conductive path.

At first we tried NRF2401+ which did not work reliably. Now we are trying TI CC1110.

The reliability of the control is quite essential because a serious accident can happen in case scooter acceleration becomes unresponsive.

Any help or advice would be appreciated.

    Hello Janis,

    From a safety standpoint, going with a wireless controller is not acceptable. The scooter has to have a mechanical disconnect switch (E-Stop).

    You should be able to run your wiring inside the handle bars or have them mounted and at some point run them through the frame. There are plenty of flexible wire and braided stainless steel or flexible conduit that will work.
