My first CC2541 as standalone device

Hello I'm building my first prototype with the CC2541 SOC and I'm in the PCB design process, I have done almost all of the connections in my schematic as the CC2541 Keyfob PDF says but I have one question I hope you can help me out with:

In the document there is a diagram about DCDC REGULATOR with the TPS62730, Can I use this to measure the level of the coin cell battery? Or this is just to supply 2.1V all the time to the CC2541 SOC? What would happen if I do not use this DCDC Regulator and I supply the CC2541 directly with the CR2032 coin battery?

If anyone has an schematic of the CC2541 in standalone mode will be very helpful for me.

Hello Enrique,

The TPS62730 is used to regulate the output to 2.1V when the RF block is ON, this is controlled by software through the P0_7 pin. When CC2541 is in sleep mode the DCDC is bypassed to avoid the quiescent current in the DCDC.

If you don't want to use the DCDC, YES you can run the CC2541 directly from the coin cell, all you have to do is take off the DCDC regulator component's block shown in the keyfob schematics and replace VDD coming from the CR2032 by VCC net.

The DC/DC is usedto reduce the current from the battery in active mode thereby increasing the lifetime of the battery.
The regular reference design shows how to use it without a DC/DC: www.ti.com/.../cc2541em-rd
