Rebranding of cc2541

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC2541

Hi again!

What If we just use cc2541 module intact in our devices?

Do we need to buy Bluetooth SIG declaration?

If we refer to Texas Instruments and your Quality Design?

Thank you in advance.

  • To expand this question, do you ever need to buy Bluetooth declaration?

Is it OK to use the wireless standard without being checked for conformity?

There have been other posts on this forum about how to certify, but I don't see anything about when we must.

  • Per the Bluetooth SIG:

2.2 Do I need to qualify my products?
    Yes. Qualification is required to:
 obtain the Bluetooth intellectual property license
 use the Bluetooth word mark and logos
Whether you are developing a new Bluetooth design, using an existing Bluetooth design, or rebranding/reselling an existing product, your company must go through the qualification process.

  • So if I don't want to use the logo or the IP license I'm ok?

What exactly does "obtain the Bluetooth intellectual property license" mean?
  • Bluetooth technologies are based on a patent pool; intellectual property contributed by various members of the BT SIG. In order to use Bluetooth technology, one must comply with the license agreements governing that technology. In this case, compliance requires qualification; regardless of whether you use the word Bluetooth or the logo.

This is just my understanding, I'm not a lawyer. TI must have lots of lawyers, perhaps one of them could weigh in on this subject?
