Hi All,

I would like to know some information about how to configure the baudrate of the BLE? If we want to configure the baudrate in a code, do we need to update the firmware with same baudrate as well? For example when you have a BLE running a HCI firmware with baudrate 57600 and I want to change the baudrate via a code, do I need to update the firmware as well?

Hi Ivan,

I'm not sure what you mean by "baudrate of the BLE". If you are referring to the UART interface on the CC2540, this is configurable via the UART driver initialization. So yes, this will require rebuilding the firmware.

Yes that's what I mean. So to update the UART interface for the peripheral role, we have to rebuild the firmware as well? Do you have any suggestion where can I find the firmware?

Hi,

The peripheral example project is simpleBLEPeripheral. You can find this in the v1.4.0 BLE-Stack SDK: www.ti.com/ble-stack
An example for adding UART to simpleBLEPeripheral can be found on the BLE wiki: processors.wiki.ti.com/.../SimpleBLEPeripheral_SerialInterface

This should be a good starting point.

I see. And I have one more question, can we change the baudrate more than 115200? Because the default maximum baudrate is 115200,, can we go higher than that?

Hi,

You can increase the baud rate, but keep in mind that the 115kbps is much faster than typical BLE effective throughput. So, you will not necessarily gain any throughput benefit.
