[BLE][CC2640][OAD] OAD Building issues

Hi TI Partners,

When I following document "OAD for CC26xx.pdf" for build OAD image then IAR always poping warring message like as below.

i've checked the path is correct and hex has erntainly built.

it seem IAR could not invoke Python for running merge script. (I'm exactly installed Python 2.7.9 and add hexmerge.py in application folder)

Have any guys could help us for fix that?

Hi Kenny,

Can you manually invoke the hexmerge.py script from a command line? There may be an issue with the installation of Python or the IntelHex Utility. You'll need to address any issues with launching hexmerge manually before it can be used in IAR. I believe there may be a registry patch required when you install the tool.

Hi Daniel,
Please forget Python.
Using "Flash Programmer 2" for download hex code one by one and read it out.
It maybe dumb but has a good method.
You could try it.

Daniel,

The easiest way I have found to merge HEX files and output either binaries or HEX files is to use srecord.

For Windows you can download the latest binaries here: http://sourceforge.net/projects/srecord/files/srecord-win32/

Usage examples:

%Merge HEX files to SimpleBlePeripheralFull.hex
srec_cat SimpleBLEPeripheralAppFlashROM.hex -intel SimpleBLEPeripheralStackFlashROM.hex -intel -o SimpleBlePeripheralFull.hex -intel
%Convert super-HEX to binary, fill unused holes in memory with 0xFF
srec_cat SimpleBlePeripheralFull.hex -intel -fill 0xFF -over SimpleBlePeripheralFull.hex -intel -o SimpleBlePeripheralFull.bin -binary

Hi Kenny,
As OAD document page11 descripted, such as BIM, Target app would use same page, if progrmming one by one, it will erase Flash at first then to write Flash at downloading code , so I think maybe lose some code, but I would try. Thanks for your suggestion.

Hi Daniel,
You have to disable "Erase" when you "Program" start.
That will retains your image hasn't been erase.

Get it, Mass Erase at first, enable Program and Verify for next 3 hex one by one. It's a easy and wonderful method to programming Target device in development. Great!
