CC2541- No buzzer sound, no connection to iPhone

Hi,

I am new to the CC2541 DK and I am currently following the User guide just to see how it works. I am following the instructions to sound the Buzzer of the KeyFob under the Immediate Alert Service using the BTool. I have been successful in scanning and establishing connections, as well as writing to the Characteristic handle 0x0028 with the value 01:00. I receive a "Success" status, but the buzzer does not sound. Also when I change the value 00:00 or 02:00, I get an invalid parameter report back.

Before I start digiing into code and trying to understand how it works, I just want to run it according to the User guide. Can you help?

PS. Also using the iPhone 5 I cannot detect the KeyFob using the TI BLE Multitool.

Just try it on Keyfob and it works fine. Are you sure that you do it right?

Look at this. with 1 it says "invalid size". With 01:00 it says "Success" but no sound.

You BTool version is 1.40.5 but mine is 1.40.12. I would suggest you update it.

Where can I find the latest version? I downloaded this from www.ti.com/.../ble-stack

Yes, you can download the latest BLE stack and install it to have latest BTool.

This is where I downloaded the latest BLE stack from and the version of the Btool it gave me was version 1.40.5. How can i update the version?

Still no sound. And any value apart from 01:00 is said to be invalid. That is i cannot input 00:00 or 02:00. And values such as 01 are seen to be INVALID SIZE

Really have no idea why you cannot use 1 as input value. Can you try to use 00:01 as input?

Hello. Firstly, the characteristic you're trying to write to is a one-byte characteristic, as defined here: developer.bluetooth.org/.../CharacteristicViewer.aspx

So you should only be writing 0x0, 0x1, or 0x2 to the characteristic. Doing this, I am able to successfully configure the buzzer.

Can you attach the full BTool log from your previous post?

It works now! I was flashing the wrong image into the wrong module. Now I am flashing CC2541 for the CC2541 module and CC2540 for the USB dongle. Now it works, also with the iPhone. Thanks for the help and direction.
