Parsing Extended Inquiry Response

I am receiving 240 Bytes of data from BT Stack for EIR. I need to parse the data to identify the UUID value which is received by EIR. Is there any document saying which byte of data belongs to corresponding data, so that I can parse the data and store the data and use it for my future use.

Sample 240 byte EIR Raw Data which I obtained.

Hi,

It is explained in the BT Spec - www.bluetooth.org, navigate to Specification->Adopted.
The EIR response format is explained in Vol 3, Part C, Section 8.

Hi,

Yes, or 4.1 or 4.0 would be okay - I don't think the EIR response data has changed in these versions.

Hi Gigi,

I can able to parse 16 bit UUID for HFP, A2DP, AVRCP, OPP, PANU for the Apple Iphone. If I need SPP UUID, Then there is no such mechanism in those documents how to parse that. I need defined data type values to parse 32 / 128 bit UUID values. Also Which phone send 128 UUID Values

Also in Vol 3, Part C, Section 8, Assigned Number is redirecting to Japan language, I can't read it.

iOS devices don't support the official SPP profile, what service are you trying to discover?

I clicked the first assigned numbers link in Vol 3, Part C, Section 8 of the 4.0 spec and didn't have any problems. Here's the English link to the assigned numbers: https://www.bluetooth.org/en-us/specification/assigned-numbers.

You can check if the UUID is 16, 32, or 128 bit using the value of the SDP_Data_Element_Type member of SDP_Data_Element_t structure.

I wat to see SPP profile in Extended inquiry Response regardless of Device. What I need to do ? Do I need to install any application in phone, that support Bluetooth SPP Profile ?

Kiruthika,

iOS devices don't support the official SPP profile, you aren't going to see the SPP profile's UUID in the EIR. There isn't any app that you can install on an iOS device to enable the SPP profile on the phone. If you want to send raw, SPP-like data to an iOS device you will have to become of a member of Apple's MFi program, additional information with links can be found here: https://developer.apple.com/bluetooth/.

In core Spec 4.0 page 402 out of 656 am referring, there is explained that the types for each service, but doesn't say how many bytes to be followed by for Types like, FLAGS, SERVICE, LOCAL NAME, TX POWER LEVEL etc...

Kiruthika,

Did you see the "EXTENDED INQUIRY RESPONSE DATA FORMAT" section on p. 1690 of the spec? The length of the fields can vary from type to type. The length is the first byte of each EIR Data Structure.

Have you tried using the GAP_Parse_Extended_Inquiry_Response_Data() function? It will handle a portion of this parsing for you.

I didn't use GAP_Parse_Extended_Inquiry_Response_Data() function. But as per your guidance, I can able to parse raw 240 bytes of EIR Data. Thanks a lot.
