CC2540 / CC2541 Power Calculator for Central Device (Scanning)

How does one modify the excel spreadsheet that is part of SWRA347 (AN092) to calculate power for a central device in scanning mode? I realize that if nothing is found the RX to TX and TX can probably be removed, but can anything esle be removed and do the pre-processing/post-processing times need to be modified (these are differnet from a connectable advertisement compared to a connection event, so I reason it will be different for a central that is scanning)?

Hi Marc,

I would focus on the RX power in your calc, this will represent the bulk of the energy consumed during scan. The number of devices scanned/processed will also be a driver of power use, you can assume this is the 8051 core active.

Hi Jeff,
Agree. But do we have any data related to pre/post processing times for a central device in scanning mode? For example, if 8 devices are found vs. only 1 how would that affect post-processing timing?

Hi Marc-
I would suggest doing the measurement on the HW in the intended configuration (using the procedure in the App Note), then extrapolate the results. This process will get you the most accurate numbers for your estimations.
