RFStudio - CC254x High Gain Setting Does Not Effect RSSI

RFStudio Champs,

I was trying to taking some continuous TX/Rx measurements using two CC254x + RF05 Boards using attached via SMA cable with series attenuation. To see the effect of the High Gain Setting.

Both captures were taken on the same RF05 board, the Transmitter board was set to 0 dBm for both captures.

Can you please explain the difference between RSSI (hex), RSSI (dBm) and RSSI Offset. It appears that the RSSI (dBm) stays the same despite the High Gain being checked or not.

Hi Michael,

RSSI (dBm) is expected to stay the same since you are transmitting with the same power level in both cases. RSSI offset is adjusted to account for the added RX gain in the latter case. RSSI (hex) is the raw data coming from the receiver.

Thanks for the explanation Fredrik the RSSI Offset confused, but your explanation helps.

Just to confirm, the RSSI is the only value actually read from the device here. The RSSI (dbm) and Offset are both calculated by RFStudio to help the user interpret the output, correct?
