CC2541 1.8V DECOUPL Capacitor

Hi all

This capacitor is 1uF. we are using it in a design where the CC2541 sleeps and wakes up very few minutes. The current pulse into this 1uF capacitor is 60mA which is rather cruel on the CR2032 battery powering it.

Is it possible to reduce this current pulse? The capacitance could be reduced but the circuit won't like that much.

Any help would be gratefully recieved.

Do you have TI's evaluation board you could measure the current on it.

On the the other hand, what is the SoC's overall current draw while you measuring this current pulse on DCPL cap?

Hi Igor

Yes I have the TI dev board and the current is the same there.

The current pulse is being measured using the current monitor shown, the output is measured on a DSO.

The current of the DUT in sleep mode is 0.4uA

When the processor is running 6mA

With the transmitter running 14mA

With the capacitor charging 60mA

Hi,

Could you also attach the part of schematic where the DCPL cap connected to the SoC and ground.
