BLED112 how BLE Packet sniffer.

Hi,

So practically it's possible for you to download a FW to your dongle from the firmwares in

...\Packet Sniffer\bin\general\firmware folder?

Locate the FW named sniffer_fw_cc2540 and download it to the dongle using CC-Debugger,

then connect the dongle to a PC.

Note: Prior programming your sniffer with suggested FW, please ensure that you have a working

FW you can download to the dongle in case the FW from packet sniffer folder doesn't work

I made sequenced all steps.

1. Download and insatal last (2.18.1) SmartRF_Packet_Sniffer.
2. Connect CC-debuger to BLED112 dongle accordingly: BLED112 dongle using the CC debugger
3. Erase dongle old firmware. (OK)
4. Open SmartRF studio7 -> Open FlashProgrammer -> Select file:
C:\Program Files\Texas Instruments\SmartRF Tools\Packet Sniffer\bin\general\firmware\sniffer_fw_cc2540_usb.hex
5. Select operation: "Erase, programm and verify" ->Push "Perform action".
6. Get result: CC2540 - ID1237: Erase, program and verify OK.
7. Disconnet CC-Debuger from dongle.
8. Connect dongle to PC USB.

9. PC show message "Found new TI CC2540 USB device"
10. Manually reinstall USB driver. PC Device manager show him: "Cebal controlled devices->CC2540 USB dongle " USB\VID_0451&PID_16B3
11. Open TI Packet Sniffer application, select "Bluetooth Low Energy", push Start.

Yes, it work well. :)

BLED112 how BLE Packet sniffer.

After 2 hour tests, I get and see only 1right data packet.

All other packet is damaged!!!

Probably, Ti Firmware or Software do not work properly, BUG is same > like for this case.

Application jump to infinite error loop, end show screen:

Cnage settings or setup in tabs - do not help.

>> restart packet sniffer
Same result.. sniffer do not work.
Long time wait, and then start printing error messages, no stoped.

I already check 2 last version, including latest (2.18.1). Result is negative...

More simply solution - change platform.
Because TI help-tools very BUG-ed.. I must lost many time, and in totaly, can`t get result for my project.

But, buy TI dongle by crazy price, only for check several packet - I am not ready... no good sens.

No... :) 49$ This in US inside. For me price + delivery + taxs. Total near 100$US.
And simple dongle have cost like 'Ferrari'.

Yes, you is right.
If I buy it on Ebay, possible reduce price, only exist unsure about runnable with TI software.
BUT!!! I already have USB dongle on TI CC2540 chip, and this do not work! Need buy more?  ;)

Currently, sniffer for cc2540usb not usable for debuging purpose.

One time in working day, it  can capture 1data packet. All next packed impossible get, sniffer crashed.

I was searching the web for a solution, it seems like the BLED112 dongle supports TI's packet sniffer FW.

I've attached a FW from Packet sniffer Ver.2.17.1. Program your dongle with it, and try to get it running.

Another thing, could you give a link to the Dongle SPEC, I'm really curious what is the flavor of CC2540

in this dongle.

I do not have dongle spec, only see PCB  through microscope. XTAL freq match and = 32Mhz

Check Ver.2.17.1 This file working little better, send ERROR msgs and BUFFER OVERFLOW after captured 2 data packet.

I think, not soldering pins in dobgle, blinking by em fields noise and  destroy firmware algorthm.

F/W for dongle must disable MCU not used in/out ports.
