Hi.

I have developed a firmware for CC2541 which supports OAD download.

Till now I was using iPhone's multitool to download & install new firmware on my cc2541 device.

Is it possible to implement my own OAD download manager application to run on a PC\Linux computer? Any source code?

Is there any android source code which implements flashing OAD bin file to a device?

Any help will be appreciated.

Hi Tim,

The BLE Device Monitor is designed to work with CC2540USB, which should have HostTestApplication on it. Is there anyway to implement and OAD tool for CC2541 devices that could work with a any other BLE USB dongle? (even without any application that is pre-loaded on it)

Yes this should be possible since HostTestApplication accepts standard HCI commands and these are the commands sent by BLE Device Monitor.

Hi Tim, thanks for your reply.
Do you know what version of Qt I should have installed in order to compile BLE Device Monitor on VS2010? (I work alongside Iddo who has started this thread)

Hi Tim,

I did manage to compile the code. I can see the most of the commands sent to HostTestApplication are sent with ogf 0x3F, which means they are vendor specific commands. Am I getting something wrong here? Doesn't HostTestApplication receive standard HCI commands?

Yes it does. It also accepts vendor-specific commands. See the HCI Vendor Specific API guide included with the installer.

Hi Tim,

Maybe I'm just getting you wrong - let me try and ask it again
We are trying to implement an OAD application that will work with any BLE dongle,
In order to understand the TI OAD process, we have received from you the source code for BLE Device Monitor,
From what I see in the code most of the relevant commands used in the process are vendor specific (scan 0xFE04, connect 0xFE09, disconnect 0xFE0A, wruteNoRsp 0xFDB6 etc...)
I get from your answer that HostTestApplication can receive both standard commands, and vendor specific commands, but from the code provided I can only map the OAD process based on the vendor specific commands.

What am I getting wrong?
Can I get any documentation for the OAD process that will help me implement it using standard HCI commands? (master-side state machine)

You are correct...most of these commands will be vendor-specific commands. You will need to port the vendor-specific commands to standard HCI commands to accomplish your goal.
