Set the power supply of the XDS110 devpack

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC2650

Hey everyone !

First point thanks everyone. It's been now a couple of month that i started to use the sensortag, and you guys helps me a lot.

Now here's my problem : i have a fully functionnnal network with CC2650 sensortags, in verbal mode (each tag is connected to a computer with tera term).

I want now to test it in a normal conditions. The question is : when i unplug the usb, the sensortags stops working. But when i unplug the XDS of the sensortag, it works fine. But i need the XDS to be plugged, to use the ADC in the near future.

THE QUESTION IS :  how can i say to the XDS110 "hey mate, you have to run onto the sensortag's battery".

Thanks

Antoine

  • Hello antoine,

As stated in the DevPack Debugger User Guide (processors.wiki.ti.com/.../Debug_DevPack_User_Guide) under Tips & Tricks:

It is not recommended to use the Debug DevPack without the USB power atteched due to the risk of powering the Debugger from the coin cell battery on the SensorTag. The SensorTag battery voltage will be disconnected from the Debug DevPack power supply but there is a risk that the I/O lines from the CC2650 will power the MCU on the debugger.

Thus, you must use USB power when the DevPack Debugger is attached.

    Best wishes
  • I have no idea how safe it is, but, you could perhaps spot the "VDD" pin on the 2x10 through holes pin left near the USB connector with VDD pointed with a thick arrow. If you short this VDD with the coin cell's positive end, you should have a running sensortag without the USB cable!
