Questions about impedance matching and programming pins for CC2650

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC2650

Hi There

I have two more questions regarding to CC2650 design. Please help me out. I am a fresh system design engineer.

1. The trace length from CC2650 to Balun ( LFB182G45BG5D920 ) is 3mm in my design. Is this short enough ?

2. What pins are needed to be able to program CC2650 ?

The pins are available in my design are:

    JTAG_TCKC

    JTAG_TMSC

    NRESET

    DIO_2, 5, 6, 13, 14.

    VCC

    GND

I am looking forward to hearing from you.

    Thanks a lot.

    Best regards

    Fu

  • Hi Fu,

    1) 3 mm sound ok.
    2) You need the JTAG pins, reset, VDD and GND. For the JTAG pins: If you are using XDS100v3 or XDS200 you only need TCK and TMS, if you are using XDS110, JLink, etc. you need TCK, TMS, TDI and TDO.

    Cheers,
    Fredrik
  • Hi  Fredrik

Thank you very much for your quick response.

I have some follow-up questions here.

    1. Right now, I am using CC2650  size: 5x5 for my custom board .  The testing interface of my design has pins as below :

        JTAG_TCKC

        JTAG_TMSC

        NRESET

        DIO_2, 5, 6, 13, 14.

        VCC

        GND

Can I use "SimpleLink SensorTag Debugger DevPack for new SensorTag (CC2650) " to debug my custom board ?

Base on your previous email, it seems I can use JTAG_TCKC , JTAG_TMSC, NRESET , VCC and GND to connect with SimpleLink SensorTag Debugger DevPack. Then, I can perform debugging, is my understanding right?

    2.  If I want to use TDI and TDO for debugging purpose, can I use DIO_5 as JTAG_TDO and DIO_6 as JTAG_TDI ?

I am looking forward to hearing from you.

    Thank you very much.

    Best regards

  • The TDI/TDO mapping for the various CC26xx packages is found in the IO chapter in the technical reference manual.

The DevPack Debug is an XDS110 and requires all 4 JTAG signals.

  • Hi Fredrik

Thank you very much for your help.

  • Hello,

is it possible to change the original mapping of the TDO and TDI Pins (DIO16/17@7x7) to other DIOs?

    Greetings

  • These are unfortunately fixed.
