Hi,

Are there any plans to produce / release some sample code which would allow a multi-point to point link based on 802.15.4 (not BLE or Zigbee), a basic TX to RX example using CSMACA and CC2630's, 40's or 50's?

I read somewhere that the basic packet test code running on the CC2650 Development Kit will not be made available due to licensing restrictions and that TIMAC is limited to 100kbps throughput (we would require at least 1Mbps).

I have looked at the Temperature Sensor Node but this uses BLE and a CC2540 as the receiver.

Though mesh networks, especially anything based on TCP/IP, are not suitable for ultra-low power battery-based devices.

6LowPAN would be a major step backwards from our current designs.

I hope that someone will eventually release sample code similar to that which runs the basic 802.15.4 packet test mode on the CC2650 development kit.

The max data throughout of 802.15.4 2.4G is 250k so you won't see any possibility that it can match your requirement, 1M bps.

Such a shame as we had hoped to port an existing CC2500 app, already running at 330kbps, to the CC2630 because of the lower transmit current which would extend battery life significantly.

A pointless exercise then.

This is the constrain of 802.15.4. If you need higher data rate, you can write your own protocol and it should be no problem to have 330 bps.

What would help is some sample code for a basic 802.15.4 transmitter (ideally with CSMA/CA) and receiver, so I can get started with CC2630's.

Ralph,

The PER test is currently only available for customers with a signed NDA with TI. I am not sure how you plan to use 15.4 with 1Mbps as the 15.4. PHY layer at 2.4GHz is defined as 250kbit/s.

Yes, realise that 15.4 limited to 250kbps but this would be a good starting point for us.

We have a signed NDA direct with TI. Please confirm how I can obtain the PER test code.
