CC2650 Proprietary Modes

The CC26XX/CC13XX wiki says you can either run 802.15.4, BLE or Proprietary. http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/Designing_a_Product_with_SimpleLink_CC26xx_or_CC13xx_Wireless_MCUs

We are specifically interested in running the CC2650 in a proprietary mode to gain access to the higher throughput (upto 5Mbps).

The CC26xx SimpleLink Wireless MCO Tech Reference indicates only two modes on page 1498, BLE or 802.15.4. Our questions are:

1) How do you program the CC2650 for the higher throughput Proprietary mode?

2) Is there any documentation on this Proprietary Mode? We have not been able to find any.

3) Do you have any initialization code available to set the CC2650 up in this proprietary mode.

Hi Michael,

The CC26xx PHY is capable of operating in a proprietary mode, but there is currently no SW available for this configuration. If there is any official update on the plans, we will share with you. You can contact your local TI representative as well.

CC1310 4mbps patches and overrides are now available in tirtos_cc13xx_cc26xx_2_16_00_08.

Any update on when CC2650 5mbps patches and overrides will be available ?

Hi,

We are currently working on providing CC2650 proprietary mode solution but don't have the exact timeline when it will be available. Can you come back in a month or two and hope we can get you more information about the timeline by that time.

According to "23.7.5.2 Proprietary Mode Setup Command" of SWCU117F, only GFSK and unshaped FSK is supported for proprietary mode.

I would like to know if QPSK DSSS would be supported for proprietary mode in future. I guess DSSS could perform better than GFSK in 2.4G as there are a lot of interference, so I want to take a try.

I recommend using the 2.4 GHz proprietary forum for these questions, they can help with preliminary SW etc, see e2e.ti.com/.../ as we are still working on the official proprietary mode solution. The TRM gives you the most updated information we have.
