CC2640 Evaluating RSSI

Hello,

I was wondering how you verified the stack's RSSI computations?

I attached two of our u.fl boards together with an SMA cable. The output of each device was set to 0 dBm. The RSSI was consistently -27dBm. I then attached a 20dB attenuation between them and the RSSI was still -27dBm.

Any thoughts on how to verify the software's reading of RSSI would be greatly appreciated.

Hello Ben,

According to the datasheet, the RSSI dynamic range is 70dB, so your results appear to be expected. Do you get accurate readings (+/- 4dB) in the dynamic range?

As JXS, this is to be expected. If you reduce the output power to -20 dBm on your transmitter or add more attenuation you will see the variation.
