OLP425i Sensitivity and Battery Drain

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BLE-STACK, CC2540

Hello,

Let me first state that I am a total layman in the realm of engineering, so I do apologize in advance for the simplicity of my inquiry. I am having issues with the battery life of the OLP425i-26 which utilizes a CR1632 battery. After testing the module (out of the box/ factory settings) for 5 hours (connected to the OLP425 iPad App) there was a 31% decrease in the battery. What can I do to elongate the battery life from within the firmware? Is there is a way to program the firmware of the OLP425i to turn off all of the sensors, minus the accelerometer? And will the potential adjustments to the firmware give me drastic results on the battery life?

Lastly, am I simply fighting a losing battle and is the solution to build a better battery source on top of the OLP425i?

Thanks to everyone in advance for the feedback!

  • Hello,

This module is not sold by TI, but since it is based on the TI BLE-Stack, you can make adjustments to the connection interval and advertising rate to reduce the overall power usage. I don't have any info on how to program the peripherals on this module, you might want to follow up with the manufacturer.

Hopefully someone who has used this kit can share their experiences.

    Best wishes

  • You must make sure to set the GPIO pins on the CC2540 so that the sensors to not draw current when not used. There are several post on the forum covering this topic, so I suggest you try these to see if they can help you on how to program the peripherals. If you still have questions, do not hesitate to ask for more details:)
