Hey,

I was tinkering with the HidAdvRemote example on the HM10 module with cc2541. I setup a switch circuit and used it to send emulate a keyboard stroke successfully. I was using an interrupt in this case. However, mouse reports don't seem to work. Tried to move the cursor as well as button presses. But none are working. Any ideas what might be wrong?

Hello Steeve,

Did you take a BLE air sniff trace to confirm the mouse report was being sent? If it's correct, then likely it's a BLE to USB translation issue.

Presently I dont have a sniffer. Is the source code for the USB dongle sniffer available so that I can port it to cc2541 and make my own dongle for sniffing purpose.

You can try to use sniffer_fw_cc2540_uart.hex in C:\Program Files (x86)\Texas Instruments\SmartRF Tools\Packet Sniffer\bin\general\firmware to run sniffer on your CC2541.

But is it compatible with cc2541??? Any confirmations...because I need to get a PCB done for the purpose.

The UART pins of CC2540 and CC2541 are the same so I think sniffer_fw_cc2540_uart.hex can be run on CC2541 without problem.

Okay...so i dont know much about the USB dongle. cc2541 has usb pins. I guess that they go to the USB port of the PC in the dongle. I couldn't find any usb circuitry reference. So I just need to load the firmware, make the usb circuit and am I good to go??

CC2541 doesn't have USB capability. Only CC2540 does. If you use CC2541, you have to use UART connection which is P0.2 as RX and P0.3 as TX on CC2541. You can refer to Table 7-1. Peripheral I/O Pin Mapping in CC253x/4x User's Guide (Rev. F).

Okay...now I loaded the UART firmware and I can see that cc2541 is sending some data through TX lines at specified time interval. Is it possible to use the official packet sniffer application with the uart version? I am using an arduino as an ftdi( by passed the main chip and using the onboard ftdi). Packet sniffer doesn't detect my device. I've a ccdebugger. I noticed that for some other radio technologies it is possible to use cc debugger as an interface between the Ti MCU and the computer. Any way to do this here?

Presently I'm using an Atmega16u2 on an arduino board running a firmware which allows it to act like an FTDI chip.

Which CC2541 pin you connect to Atmega16u2 as TX/RX? For your convenience, I strongly suggest you buying one CC2540EMK-USB.
