Maxium connection number for CC2650 multi-role

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC2640

Hi folks,

I have did a few test related to multi connections and multi roles firmware. I suppose to develop a multi role firmware which can support up to 6 or more connections. However, according to my test and this post e2e.ti.com/.../1547124     , the sample project of multi-role can only support 4-5 connections. It seems that the size of SRAM is the main limitation.(because the 20k SRAM was almost fully occupied when I configured the HEAPSIZE to 8000)  I wonder if it is possible to extend SRAM size so that it can support more stable connections? Or if there is other powerful microchip from TI or other provider can support more simultaneous connections as well as the multi-role function?

Cheers,

Kai

  • Hello,

The size of the SRAM is fixed as specified in the CC2640 data sheet. You could use the Host Test firmware on the CC2640 to manage the BLE connection, then use another MCU (e.g., MSP432 or TiVa) to manage the profile/services associated with the connected devices. Since there is no embedded application running in HT, you can support more connections.

    Best wishes
