Hi,

I am working on CC2541 based project. I want to know how to interface CC2541 with a LCD. I am referring one document from TI. http://www.ti.com/lit/ug/swru210a/swru210a.pdf

In this document CC2541 interfaced with LCD using SPI communication.

1.Can I follow the same circuit?

2. If I am using different LCD, what are the changes should do in the circuit?

1. Yes, you can follow the same circuit.
2. If you use different LCD which is also SPI interface. I think you only need to make sure CS, SCLK, MISO, and MOSI are corrected connected.

My idea is to design a small size PCB for that I will be using 2x8 display LCD. So how can I interface this type of LCD with CC2541?

1. direct interface ?
2. through buffer ?

2x8 LCD means 2 lines and 8 characters. This LCD I want to interface with CC2541 through SPI/I2C.

It use P1.2 as CS, P1.5 as SCLK, P1.6 as MOSI, and P1.7 as MISO in TI BLE stack for CC254x.

But the problem is 2x8 LCD does not have SPI/I2C. I think I have to use Buffer/Driver IC. Am I right?

This LCD doesn't use SPI or I2C. You can check the reference design of HW connection on page 4 of its datasheet. And, you need to do driver programming by yourself.

So are you saying, directly I can connect CC2541 (I/O pins) to LCD without the use of serial in parallel out shift register ????

Hi,

I made a design with both interface.
a. Direct interface: CC2541 I/O pins directly interfaced with LCD data lines (4-bit).
b. Through SIPO ic: Used SPI of CC2541, these pins connected to input of SIPO and output connected to LCD.
Control lines directly interfaced.
