CC2564 HFP 1.6 (unassisted)

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC2564

I am implementing HFP 1.6 WBS with a CC2564 (unassisted, non-B version).  HFP 1.5 works as expected, but I'm having issues with WBS.

Testing with a WBS enabled phone, the BT controller (running the Mindtree Ethermind 4.0 stack) receives mSBC encoded audio from the CC2564 and decodes into 16K audio.  This works as expected with quality audio.  However, when sending encoded audio to the CC2564, the audio received is not perceptible (garbled and/or not present).

To troubleshoot this issue, I simply looped back the input packets to the output (bypassing the mSBC encoder on the controller).  I would expect a quality echo on the phone, but audio is still not perceptible.  This implies that the issue is not in the controller, but either the I2S bus is not configured correctly for WBS, or WBS is not configured correctly on the CC2564.

I did not change the I2S bus configuration (HCI_VS_Write_CODEC_Config) for WBS vs HFP 1.5.  It is configured for 16bit 8kHz.  Again, this works fine for encoded audio from the CC2564 (and works fine for HFP 1.5).

I did not modify the SCO configuration (HCI_VS_Write_SCO_Configuration), as it appears the CC2564 uses the PCM by default (instead of HCI).

I experimented with the HCI_BS_WBS_Associate command, but it makes no difference.  I'm not sure if this is just used for assisted mode or not.  Either way, audio sounds fine from the CC2564, but not to the CC2564.

What am I missing?

Thanks,
Layne
