I would like to use the Time-to-Digital Converter in the Sensor Controller to do time-of-flight for an ultrasonic metering application. The TDC7200 is a recommended component for this, with a 12 ns minimum measurement and 55 ps resolution. I was wondering if the Sensor Controller could be used instead, with its 10 ns count capability (thus removing one component from my design).
What I would like to know is whether the clock conversion in the CC2650 Sensor Controller would be accurate enough to meet the < 80 ps resolution (error in the calculated difference between two time-of-flight measurements) for a flow meter to be considered for certification.
My reference design is currently using the TDC7200 as the time-of-flight converter, but I would like to be able to make use of the CC2650's Sensor Controller instead if it can provide lower enough resolution.
