Hello all,

I am new to BLE programming. I am trying to set up communication between CC2541 & CC2650 (one is a transmitter and the other is a receiver, no constraints on which chip is which). I would like to know how to pair these two chips for communication and how the ICs have to be programmed to achieve this. The Master has to send data to the slave, which is connected to a motor. Please let me know how to approach this.

You have to run BLE-STACK V2.1 on CC2650 and BLE-STACK: V1.4.1 on CC2541. Either one can act as Central and the other one as Peripheral.

Hi Yikai,

Is it possible to then pair the two with each other ? Do I have to set up any special communication lines or can I use the GPIOs to act as the I/O lines?

Of course you can pair them with BLE directly without any communication lines or GPIO.

Great. Thanks for your reply. I have one more query, what is the difference between using IAR embedded workbench and using BLE stack to program the chips?
I am new to BLE & firmware programming, so kindly let me know if I can go through some online resources for the same.

IAR is the IDE that you can use to build examples for BLE Stack. You can read e2e.ti.com/.../337412 for lots of online resource.
