CC2564B BSC_Initialize Failed:-4 Occasionally, The probability is about 1%

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC2564

Hi:

My platform is EFM32GG395+CC2564B, when do cycle BT initialization test,we could get the failure result occasionally

OpenStack().
BSC_Initialize Failed: -4.
Unable to open the stack.

Now 2564B is configured as mix mode,Slow_Clk is from EFM32 output,not from a 32.768K TCXO,the ripple on 1V8 is 120mV,

1、 I want to check which may cause this failure,ripple,slow_clk or any other

2、 can you tell me the detail work in BSC_Initialize (), so I can trace failure process

  • Hi,

I would recommend verifying the power up sequence first. processors.wiki.ti.com/.../CC256x_Testing_Guide

The BSC_Initialize tries to load the service pack to the CC256x controller. If the controller is not up, then this function will fail.

    Regards,
    Miguel
  • Hi,
I made some verification and found out that Slow_Clk from EFM32 is the point, now I added a external TCXO as slow clk
I measured the power consumption(broadcasting ,connection and transmission) , found that the current in DCDC mode is almost same as mixmode and sometimes bigger ,it is not consistent with datasheet. Did TI has the current consumption in three power schemes?
  • Hi Miguel

This looks a very similar problem to the one I am seeing (details in my other posts) , do you agree ?

  • Hi Jonathan,

I am not sure it is the same issue since I believe your are able to boot up the device but not able to enable BLE.

    Miguel
  • Hi user4542775,

Where did you measure the current consumption? Which scenarios? Which DC2DC part are you using?

    Regards,
    ~Miguel
  • Hi Miguel

I see exactly the same fault initially.

    OpenStack().
    BSC_Initialize Failed: -4.
    Unable to open the stack.

After that the stack initialises ok ( BUT only using the basepatch that came with the stack will low energy enable succesfully ).

If I use the patch that TI say to use LE does not initialise.

I gave double checked the UART coms and whenever the stack sends UART commands they are sent to the chip and whenever UART messages are recieved the stack gets notified of them ... BUT there are 'command disallowed' messaged been sent by the CC2564B

Is it possible to have a TI field engineer visit our site to look at the problems ? I am in the UK near Bradford.

  • Dear  Miguel:

Through contrast test, the problem lies in the  unstability of 32768 output from EFM32

Because  the rising  edge has left  and right offset,    If the rising edge begins as the clock cycle, the frequency  is not  stable

But  if we use  falling edge as start of a clock cycle ,the frequency is Ok

So  I want  to check which edge is the start of a clock  for CC2564
