BLE off-chip OAD with CC2650 5XD

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC2650, CC2640

Hi,

I use CC2650 7ID chip to implement the off-chip OAD and it works very well.
Now I try to change 7ID to 5XD by change the PIN setting, the advertising and connection
are normal as usual but OAD cannot be done.
I guess it's the problem about BIM_ExtFlash, can you tell me how should I do?

  • Hello Mr. Wei,

There are no changed required to BIM_ExtFlash unless you have changed the pin mapping for SPI flash.

For the App/Stack you need to make sure you use the correct board file with PIN and RF Front End & Bias settings. See the CC2640 SW Dev Guide (SWRU393) for more details.

  • Hi,

Make sure that you are using the correct board file, and that your external flash is connected to the correct SPI port since the Off-chip OAD interfaces with external flash chip via SPI.

  • Hi JXS,

    Thank you for your reply.
I've changed the pin mapping for SPI flash for 5XD chip in BIM_ExtFlash project, but it didn't work at all.
For the App/Stack, I have included the 5XD board file and replaced CC26XXST_0120 with board.c of 5XD chip,
is there any thing I have to do? RF front? Bias setting?

    thank you
    Wei
  • Hell Wei,

The RF settings are documented in the BLE SW Dev Guide (SWRU393).

Since your problem is with OAD, I suggest using the JTAG debugger to step through the code. The OAD is all source, so there should be no issue with this method.

    Best wishes
