HSP (headset profile) connection issues

Hello!

I am trying to test out the HSPdemo so i can understand it and eventually integrate parts of its abilities into my project,

i am following the TI instructions from this link:

i get a problem when i try to connect to my Nexus 5 smartphone, it takes an unusual amount of time to get the pincoderesponse message.

Moreover, after i fill it out on both sides (phone then console) the device is paired but not connected, sometimes it doesnt even finish the pairing correctly.

Tried the same on other android phones, all the same.

I don't understand the reason to this and don't know how to continue.

Can you share the BT snoop logs from the android side?

I don't exactly understand which logs you want? could u elaborate and tell me how can i capture this data?

Hi Yuri,

Please confirm if you're using the demo application as is, or have you modified it in any way?
Which host mcu are you using?

The error means that the android phone is not able to parse the SDP response sent by the CC256x. But it's very unusual. I just tried it on my setup, and did not face any issues connecting with Android phone (one plus one). Neither did I see a delay in getting the PINCodeResponse event.

Please also try with another android phone and confirm if you see the same behaviour.

Hi Joseph!

First of all, My MCU is the stm32L476M. I did change some things in the application but its the same things i have done in the HOGP and SPPLE demos,
I've changed the following things:

1. Some function names were changed, for example: InitializeApplication() ---> HSP_InitializeApplication()
2. The console read/write functions were changed to my custom functions since i am not using UART but an USB uart wrapper (which was tested and works fine for other TI sample apps)

I have tried and got the same problematic result on at least three more Android phones besides mine.

Hi,

Can you please try the HSPDemo sample application that comes as part of the SDK 4.0.2.2 release as is?
I don't see any problem with the request from Nexus 5. My phone does the same query, and gets a valid response from CC256x.

It acctually works in its original state, i will now check step by step what effected the connection.
