Power Consumption during advertisement exceeding 6mA

Hi All,

I have followed TI's Power Consumption guide in my project. I have changes values in that calculator sheet as per my requirement, e.g. Advertisement Interval, Pay load size (28 byes), etc. As per that calculation, consumption shall be around 5mA. While checking on scope, it gives us the peak of more than 6mA. There are no peripherals active at that moment apart from Timer and Radio. Can you please give hint why there is difference in TI"s calculator results and actual consumption. Its changing the battery life big time.

What's your HW front end configuration? As per datasheet, TX at 0 dBm should give you around 6.1mA. May I ask where did you see the number 5mA?

Thanks for response. I didn't see 5mA anywhere but when i use the Power Consumption calculation sheet provided by TI and increase the no of bytes TX, then i get 5mA.

But i see that in datasheet @0 dBM, it is mentioned that it'll consume 6.1mA. But my question is Would that take same 6.1mA when only TX is happening (Broadcasting) or when TX & RX both are happening (Connectable ADV) ?

6mA is for TX, and when the device switches to the RX then you will have expected RX current.
