lowest cost chip to provide single digital output upon BT connection

Hello,

I am a hobbyist working on a small party favor gift project where I want the toy to light up as controlled by a BT connection from a smartphone. There doesn't have to be any serial communication, just output one digital signal. I know that many BT boards can do this, but I am looking for a very low cost board (hopefully < $1) as I will make possibly 50-100 of these. If I reduce the requirement to just a single digital output signal upon BT connection, does such a minimal BT receiver exist that can do this at very low cost and is something a hobbyist could incorporate into a simple analog circuit ?

Hi,

Don't think you will find boards that low, you could go with modules(links found in our wiki page). It should be easy to program a single output pin, but finding a cheap board would be a challenge.

I think the answer to your question is: no chance.
First of all, the quantity is too small to reduce the cost.

I thought reducing the requirement would really help the cost. Is there another kind of device that may work? I just want to signal a device with a cell phone and the receiving device has to be really low cost. I heard rfid tags can interact over a few meters, would any that have a digital IO work with a phone?

You are talking about a "board with BT function" and the cost is below $1. The chip itself may be possible, but a board... well, I don't think it is possible.
