Difference between BLE v1.3.0 and BLE 1.2.0

Hi,

We have several BLE CC2650 sensortags. Some have a sticker on them that says BLE Rev.:1.2.0 and some have a sticker that says BLE Rev:1.3.0 and right underneath FW Rev:1.2.0. I gathered that the firmware revisions are the same between them, but what does it mean for the BLE revisions to be different (ie, 1.3.0 compared to 1.2.0)?

Hello Katarina,

Sorry for the very late answer. The BLE just means it is a BLE (or Bluetooth Smart) SensorTag. The number after that is the Hardware revision number. From 1.2 to 1.3, the voltage regulator was changed to a TPS22910.

Another thing is that the cc2650 chip revision has been bumped, which may or may not cause you problems depending on your fw and TI driverlib version and so on. Old 1.2 was 2.2, new hw rev on 1.3 is 2.3, at least on the ones I have here.
