SNP: BLE Advertising Name not changeable

Hi,

i'm using a CC2650 connected via SPI with a EFM32 and the SNP example. At the moment i've a problem with changing the advertising device name.

I try to change the complete local name to "Test" by set the advertisement data over the npi command. I'm using 0x09 as advertising data-type and change it for the scan response data and also for the non-connectable advertisement data. But instead of changing the complete local name it changes the shortened local name. The device name remains SNP. I also tried 0x08 as advertising data-type.

Have i to do other things to change the device name of the SNP-Application?

Hello Dominic,

Is this BLE-Stack 2.1.x or 2.2?

How are you confirming the name change? Are you taking a sniffer or using a phone/BTool as the Scanner/Central?

I'm using the BLe-Stack 2.2 and i've checked it with various BLE Apps for my phone!

Please check with an air sniffer or BTool. Some phones will cache the old name or ignore the Adv name if they have previously connected to the device. One way to 'fool' the phone is to use SmartRF Flash Programmer 2 to set the secondary IEEE BT device address to something different. The phone will think it's a new device.
