CC2640 OAD using BLE Device Monitor

Hi,

i am using the CC2640 based on the simpleBLEPeripheral project example and i am trying to OAD with BLE Device Monitor and CC2540 USB Dongle.

On the BLE Device Monitor i can connect to the CC2640.

If i try to use the OAD and selet the .hex file press start i get this:

After this the CC2640 crashes too.

Any idea?

First i flash the simpleBLEPeripheralStack then the App and then the bim_extflash to the CC2640.

If i use the sensortag app on the iphone, the OAD gets stuck on 0% and doenst do any downlaod at all.

Your device shows not connected. You should connect it first.

Hi Chen,

it was connected and when i start OAD with the uploaded .hex file it crashes and disconnected the device.

You can see that on the Log on the Top Left window.

So, what's TrueWind? Is it TI BLE device?

Hi Chen,

yes i changed the SimpleBLEPeripheral name to TrueWind.
I am trying to OAD the device base on the SBP project.
It connects to it and i can open OAD to program, but it crashes and i dont know whats causing this.

I can do this using the SensorTag Hardware with the SensorTag software.
What i will try later on is to flash the SensorTag Hardware with the SBP project and see if it works.

I don't have experience try OAD with SBL project so cannot help much.

I used the simple_peripheral_cc2650stk project with the SensorTag and i could OAD using BLE Device Monitor with no problem.

This project is defined already for CC2640 so i dindt change anything on the settings. The only thing i changed was setting the right board file.

Because the package i am using is 5x5.

So i went and did the same on my custom board. I flashed first stack, then app and then BIM.

I connected it with the BLE Device Monitor but once i try the OAD it gave me this error:

Does the BLE Device Monitor only works with a 7x7 package?

On my custom board i am using exactly the same external flash as the sensortag only the chip select changes in my case. I consider this on the board file already.

Am i missing something?

I made it work!

I followed the OAD User Guide for CC2640 and i had to change the SPI PINs declared on the 5x5 board file.
Now i can OAD off chip on the 5x5 Custom board.
