How to set a system reset by software in CC2640?

Hi,

Based on my knowledge of CC2640, the clock of watchdog is from 24M/48M OSC, so it could not support during standby mode while 24M/48M inactive. Any misunderstanding here? Is there any possible that make watchdog working with 32K OSC to make it also effective during sleep mode?

Now, to reduce the probability of system going to crash, I suggest customer to add in a system reset by periodical period, like 6 hours. Could you help review any problem with the code?

I think you should use watchdog function instead of that.

Please don't make simple things complicated.

Your method relies on software. Software needs CPU to execute. If CPU is crashed then this piece of code probably won't be executed, too.

But if the system go to crash while sleeping , how could it recover? And most of the time system is in sleep mode.
Is the only way is adding a hardware watchdog?

First of all, you have to define the meaning of "crash during sleeping". As you said, the 24M/48M clock and CPU are off. There is no "crash" for an inactive CPU. So, you probably mean the RTC module is crashed. Then, we have to look at what modules are still operating during sleeping mode. And what is the side effect if the power is failing.

Most of crash is caused by software program and I suggest you to find the root cause to fix it instead of workaround it.
