Connecting a CC2564MODAEM devboard to devto a Beaglebone Black

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC2564MODNEM, CC2564MODAEM

Hi,

I'm trying to connect a CC2564MODNEM devboard to a Beaglebone Black.

From reading the user guide for the CC2564MODAEM,

EM Connector

it would seem that I can connect the BBB to the devboard via the EM port:

1. Is this correct?

2. Which pins would I need to drive, if I want to use the TI LINUX addon driver?

Debug Connector

The EM connector are not ideal, due to pitch it would be much easier to connect to the

to a connector with the pitch of the debug port.

3. Is it possible to drive power and the hci-uart via this port?

4. If so, which pins do I need to drive?

COM Connector

Alternatively, i could use the comm port, but I dont know if this is a standard edge

connector for which I can easily purchase an aasociated female connection.

5. Is this a standard connector?

6. What component would you advice to use to connect to this edge connector?

Best Regards,

Paul

  • Paul,

Please refer to the Hardware configuration section of the following wiki page:
    processors.wiki.ti.com/.../Using_CC2564_with_Linux

All the EM pinouts (EM connectors, Debug connectors and COM connectors) of the CC2564MODAEM, CC2564MODNEM and CC256XQFNEM are identical.

  • Hi,

    The RF Cape is discontinued!

Please can you address my specific points?

    BR

  • Hello Paul,

I'm not sure concerning your comment of the RF Cape is discontinued?

which RF cape - the wireless cape for the BBB?

First i'm sure that you can get the cape via some vendors.

Second - there is a the BBBW board and some other vendors that offer a board already with the WiFi capabilities.

Concerning your questions - as answered above you have access to all the hardware related material in the links provided in the answer above.

Please go over them and in case you have any specific issue please raise it and we will help you.

  • Hi,

I'm asking for very basic information!

Just can you tell me how to use on of YOUR BT dev boards, with one of YOUR uC board!

I read TI docs which you pointed me to, they point to the use of a RFCape with the BBB to connect the

    CC2564MODAEM

board to the BBB. If your not certain which RFCape I'm referring to think how I feel, I just want to use 2 TI boards

together, I'm almost a week in and no closer!

I've asked very specific questions about the BT board, can you just answer them, as this would at least move me forwards!

    BR

  • Hi Paul,

My apologies for the confusion on this topic and the delay in responding back to you. I looked into this issue further and you are correct we no longer support the RF cape that can be used with the BBB to run the CC2564MODAEM. We also do not recommend that you Blue Wire to connect the BBB to the CC2564MODAEM as this will cause additional issues.

Our recommendation for evaluation is to move forward with the MSP430 platform. The quick start guide will provide you details of the platforms that are supported. This document can be found at:

    www.ti.com/.../swru425

You can also find additional platforms that are supported in the user guide. This document can be found at:
    www.ti.com/.../swru427

The BT stack information that will be required to run on these various platforms can also be found at:

    www.ti.com/.../CC2564MODAEM

Again my apologies on this topic. If you need anything else please let me know and I will try and help out in a timely manner.

    Thanks,
    Riz
