Is there any option to have 2 UART ports in CC2650?

Dear community members,

In my current system, I am forced to use an external Microcontroller in addition to CC2650 to control a GSM and GPS modules. Since the CC2650 have only one UART port available. But in the documentation of sensor controller engine, bit banged serial ports are mentioned ! Is it really possible? Then is will save me.

Can anyone help me on this?

You can use one from CC26xx and another from sensor controller.

As YiKai Chen stated there is an example project called UART Emulator. Useful help are found here:

I have one more doubt..
Is it possible to create more than two UART ports similar to the SCS example?

Simplelink accademy really reduces the learning curve.

Hello Tom,
I believe it is, but I have not tested this myself yet. You will have to create another sensor controller task and the two interfaces will have to run sequentially. Stop the first task before starting the second (only a single UART emulator can be active at a time).

Hai Lenli,
I solved the problem using a 2:1Mux(www.ti.com/.../SN74LVC2G157), its enough for me(Because I just need the tx line from GPS).
It is possible to emulate the second UART on the sensor conltroller engine(Only one per project).
Thus you can achive max 2 serial ports
