TI Bluetooth Stack for STM32F4 and NIST Guidlines

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC2564CSTBTBLESW

Hi,

We are using TI Bluetooth Stack for STM32F4 in our application to communicate between two devices via bluetooth using the Serial Port Profile.

Since wireless data exchange is prone to attacks we have requirements to implement NIST guidelines to enhance the security. (The NIST guidlines  for bluetooth is mentioned in the following document   ).

The requirement highlights are  - the link keys shall be stored as per the NIST guidlines , the random number generation for Public/Private keys should be as per the guidelines etc.

As per our understanding of the stack with SPPDemo project all the keys are generated internally in the library and the application do not have any control on its generation (Please correct us if we are wrong). Since the implementation in the Bluetooth library is unknown we are not sure whether these requirements for NIST have already been met.

It will be really helpful for us if you can throw light on the implementation status of the TI Bluetooth library meeting the NIST guidlines

  • Hi,

The CC256x controller and the TI dual mode Bluetooth stack follow the BT SIG requirements as listed in their qualification reports (including public/private/link key generations in the controller). Please refer to the ICS reports of following QDIDs for CC256x controller (87924) and ti dual-mode bluetooth stack (85355) for details regarding the CC2564CSTBTBLESW.
