CC2650DK: Dual connection between two cc2650 units

Hi Amit,

In order to form a BLE connection you need a Central GAPRole. I suggest you use the simple_central example, found in the BLE SDK, on one of your devices. This project will allow your device to scan and connect to other BLE devices.

The simple_central example is built for the smartRF06 module.

I am trying to combine both codes into something I can work with, but aren't there Central GAPRole projects ready for the launchPad?

Should I really start it all from scratch?

I've downloaded the examples but there seems to be only projectspec file, I have no idea what is it.

I haven't found any .c or .h files. Where can I find those files?

Hi Amit,

Are you working in CCS or IAR?

The projectspec is a receipe for CCS on how to set uo the project, which files to include etc, so if you press Import CCS Project you will be good to go. (The .c and .h files are stored in the src folder, but please use the projectpec or eww file to import the project.)

I have imported the project but failed to build it, so many errors and I have no idea whats the problem, it seems something is missing.

I have added a screenshot of the errors. How can I make it work?

Hi Amit,

Please make sure you have installed BLE stack v. 2.2.1 on the designated location (C:/ti/simplelink). www.ti.com/.../BLE-STACK

And also ti-rtos which is bundled with the BLE stack.

Edit #2:

I have updated my BLE stack and RTOS and now its building the project, and I am able to upload the project to the CC2650 launchpad board.
When I debug it, I can't seem to make it work. I am using putty but the screen remains empty, and the board buttons doesn't seem to do anything at all.

Is there something I'm not doing right?

Is there any tutorial or further explanation regarding this simple central example?

I have seen these pages. For some reason I can't see anything in the putty window.
When I've uploaded the Project 0 I was able to see everything with putty, so I've added a log0 command to the main function in the simple central project and still could not get any output.
Maybe the log is disabled in the simple central project? I have no idea how to resolve this, and still couldn't get any results from this project.

Hi Amit,

Log is disabled for this project (the define is in the compiler predefines). However, writing to UART is by the display driver (Display_print etc), so this shouldn't be a problem.

Could you make sure that you are using TI ARM Compiler v. 5.2.6 or 5.2.8, and that you are building and flashing both the app and stack project?

My CCS is up to date, but how can I check the version of the compiler?

The stack project was not built, so I added it now.

I still don't see anything with putty at all - not even when I press the buttons of the launchpad board.

The only thing I see is two lines in the CCS console:

Cortex_M3_0: GEL Output: Board Reset Complete.

"

I thought the UART info was supposed to be seen in putty.

Either way, I can't seem to connect anything and I can't see any info at all.

Hi Amit,

See 2.6.3.2 Installing a Specific TI ARM Compiler of the SDG ( www.ti.com/.../swru393d.pdf ).

Please follow the same wrkflow as Project Zero: 1) Build stack project. 2) Flash stack project. 3) Build app project 4) flash app project.

Hi Amit,

I mean load the project.

When you have imported your project and changed the compiler in both the app and stack projects:
1) Right click on stack project and press Debug (this will build and flash it)
2) Right click on app project and press Debug (this will build and flash it)

This is the same work flow as for Project Zero.

Now after the arm update I can see the UART, but I can't seem to find any devices (pic below) even though I have another launchpad board connected to another computer (with project 0 on it) and my phone Bluetooth on. Any idea whats wrong?

One more question - once I have both app and stack imported, are you sure I have to start debug session twice - once for stack project and second time for the app?
