LAUNCHXL-CC2650: CC2650 Launchpad problem with COM Port?

Hi,

Since, using CC2650 Launchpad, I have on several occasions experienced no output at Tera Term and cannot open COM Port. I have done these below. Anyone here experience the same? What is the solution to the problem?

Disconnect and Reconnect USB Cable.
Restart PC.
Replace USB Cable.

1. Try to close all CCS and Flash Programmer 2 and disconnect USB cable between LAUNCHXL-CC2650 with PC.
2. Connect USB cable and open COM port with teraterm.
3. Start CCS or Flash Programmer 2.

If you need to reset LAUNCHXL-CC2650, use reset button on LAUNCHPAD and don't connect/disconnect USB while CCS or Flash Programmer 2 is opened.

Hi Yikai,

I am using Project Zero. Before you replied I was able to output at Tera Term. I followed your instructions and there is no output at Tera Term. I restarted my PC and did the same and there is no output at Tera Term.

I notice that the red led is on near the TM4C129 whenever this happens. Last week I had this problem, but after some troubleshooting I did not have the problem again. But, since today early morning, I have been having this problem. My CC2650 launchpad is new and no additional circuitry connected, so I assume this is not caused by my CC2650 Launchpad.

I am using Dell Laptop Windows 10, Code Composer Studio 7, all software tools for CC2650 Launchpad installed , Energia also installed.

It looks there is something wrong with your LAUNCHXL-CC2650 since you see the red led is on near the TM4C129 whenever this happens. I just test with my LAUNCHXL-CC2650 and everything works fine and I don't see the red led is on. If you restart your desktop and reconnect LAUNCHXL-CC2650, can it recover?

Hi,

My Launchpad is Rev: 1.2. The other Launchpad that I just took out of the ESD bag is also Rev: 1.2. I just did PC Shutdown and I am trying again.

If you run UART echo example, does it work?

Hi Yikai,

I imported the UART echo example program and it works. I used the COM4 UART Port and set the Baud Rate to 9600.

That's strange. Try to do mass erase on LAUNCHXL-CC2650 and download ProjecttZero to test again.

Hi Yikai,

I just received my BLE USB Dongle. I will do a mass erase using Smart RF Flash Programmer 2.

Hi Yikai,

Using Smart RF Flash Programmer, I have erased the CC2650 Launchpad successfully. I have also programmed the Project Zero App and Stack successfully. I am able to test the Project Zero successfully using SensorTag App.

I open Tera Term and there is output. I will see later if there is also Tera Term output at CCS Debug->Run.
