CC2640 team,

We have a customer wanting to implement the data length extension feature with CC2650MOD to Android and iPhone devices.

I see some reference to it in simple_peripheral.c in Simplelink CC2640R2 SDK 1.00.00.22.

Will the Simple Peripheral example work with the CC2650MOD or does it rely on the additional ROM in CC2640R2?

If not, where do we start?

Do we have an Android App with source code that demonstrates this? (I see this thread below, so I’m doubting it!)

CC2650MOD is not supported with Simplelink CC2640R2 SDK 1.00.00.22. You should use BLE-Stack 2.2.1 for CC2650MOD. In either SDK, data length extension is supported in the SDK, however you have to check your Android / iPhone to see if that device support data length extensions. See the "throughput" example from the available github projects. github.com/.../ble_examples-2.2

Have we validated the throughput example by communicating with phone, or just CC2640 to CC2640? If we have tested with a phone, which app was used?

You can use the throughput example with a phone, but it is the phone's operating system that negotiates DLE. You can use any generic BLE app such as "BLE Scanner" or "nRF Connect" to initiate a BLE connection.
