CC2541: Receive/transmit code flow

Good Day,

I'm new here and can someone kindly explain the flow in the code of how the chars/strings of commands are being received/transmitted then processed in some BLE sample projects like "keyfob".

i am still new to this and need to be enlightened. i am currently working on playing with the sample codes but still can trace where in the codes the receiving/transmitting of chars/string.

i am using the CC2541Keyfob board and BLE scanner app to communicate with it.

Hi Robert,

Since you are new to BLE, I suggest taking a look at Simplelink Academy ( software-dl.ti.com/.../overview.html ). It's an online tutorial that explains many aspects of the CC2640 devices and BLE. Even if you're using CC2541, I think you would benefit.

Hello Marie,

Thanks for the recommendation, will try to read it later.

Can you suggest what sample code in the BLE stack should i start which can show me where the sent message from a device is received and process? Will keyfobdemo sample project suffice? Is this about GATT issue? sorry for the many questions, i am confused as to how code processes incoming data... :)

Edit: i'm using IAR workbench to compile the codes in the keyfob board and communicating only with BLE scanner app in my phone.

Hello Again,

I am currently editing the simpleBLEperipheral sample code and i have a question regarding SimpleProfile_GetParameter and SetParameter. I notice in the write properties of characteristic 3 that it only accepts a 1byte/8bit of input (with using BLE scanner app). Is it possible that it can read more than 1 byte of input (around 16bytes maybe)?

Please refer to how characteristic 5 is implemented in simpleGATTprofile (SIMPLEPROFILE_CHAR5_UUID).
