Hey Guys ... I'm working for a printed circuit board have the 'cc2540 chip' as a 'CPU and a receiver'....my question is if i can program the chip comming directly from factroy !?

and what i need like tools (programmer) !?

Hello Ahmed,
Have you assembled the chip on your custom board? Are you trying to simply program a single device on your own PCB? For this task a simple CC-Debugger will do the trick.

If your FW for CC2540 is ready and you are looking for program FW to it in mass production, you can outsourcing FW programming to 3rd party like hilosystems.

Hello Eirik, Thanks for the response
In reality the hardest part that is into my face is software , how i can make the PCB (cc2540 coming from factory) receive data from my smartphone and do some instruction as " opening LED or controlling a motor with PWM " ... i don't have a problem with the hardware part !

If you buy CC2540 SOC only, it doesn't come with firmware from factory.

Hello Ahmed,

1. First download and install the ble-stack for CC254x (v1.4.2) from http://www.ti.com/tool/BLE-STACK.

2. Open the TI_BLE_Software_Developer's_Guide found here after installation: "C:\Texas Instruments\BLE-CC254x-1.4.2.2\Documents" and read

8 Development and Debugging.
7 Creating a Custom BLE Application .
Then rest of the entire document if needed.

3. TI_BLE_Sample_Applications_Guide.pdf is also useful.

4. If you don't have a CC-Debugger yet I recommend to get the CC2541 Mini Development Kit which also includes a CC2540 USB dongle which is very useful for debugging with Btool or the packet sniffer. (http://www.ti.com/tool/cc2541dk-mini).

In general we have much more comprehensive guides for our latest family of devices. The latest BLE device is the CC2640R2F and we have a lot of training material for this device in our Simplelink Academy Training modules (http://software-dl.ti.com/lprf/simplelink_academy/overview.html).

To program FW to CC2540, you only need to use CC Debugger.
