CC2650: Notifying connected board

Hi All

I'm developing a program which sends timed strings of data upon a request. When using BLE Device Monitor it looks like attached image. When using a Host and BLE Device Monitor I can send request to board by writting "01:00" in Client Characteristic Configuration field. How would i do this without a host, using an automatic connection in second board? What message the requesting board would have to send (to connected sender) in order to enable notifications(the strings of data)?

You need to implement a master that discover the needed characteristics(can be discovered by using UUID) and then find the handle. Use that handle to enable notification.

Hi Christin,
I'm still new to this...
Ok, so by getting the UUID i can find the characteristics, but how do i get the handle?
Can you exemplify what functions would do this?
Does it come to your mind any (CCS) example that does this?
What sections of the dev guide do you recommend me to read?

Hi,

Since you are new to this, I would recommend you to start with our simplelink academy training to get to know how BLE and our SW works.

The you can start with simple_central to see how it discovers simple_peripheral and write to it.
simple_central_audio_receiver also implements how to enable notification upon connection.

Any project downloaded from your github and then imported into my CCS appear with missing files. In case of simple_central_audio_receiver project, the file simple_central_audio_receiver.c is missing -> File not found

I just downloaded the whole github projects and I was able to import the project without any missing file. Can you do a step by step picture showing how you import the project and where you place the ble_example-master folder?

Did you also download BLE stack and place it at default location (c drive)?

From some mystical/black magic/coincidence i was able to import the project after restart CCS and updating(something).

Ok so i have simple_central-audio_receiver.c in front of me. Found where the notifications are enable( I think).

So next questions, what function sends the GATT message with method ATT_WRITE_RSP. How can I find the handle?

Hi,

We prefer to support all the question in the public forum so more users who have the same problem can benefit from it.

During the service discovery, the handles are saved to those variables (audioStartCharValueHandle...etc).

The first enable notification in invoked in case : ATT_READ_BY_TYPE_RSP, then after the first enable notification, the server will send back ATT_WRITE_RSP.

No, one shot clock won't do the trick.

The ATT_READ_BY_TYPE_RSP is sent from server after the client sent Read By Type Request.

I would recommend you to read Bluetooth Specification version 4.2 Vol3, Part F (Attribute protocol) to get familiar with how this works
