CC2564: startup current

Part Number: CC2564

Hi All, we found the startup current of the CC2564B is quite high and makes it nearly impossible to use on a 100-150mA AA step up converter. Apparently I could read on other posts it seems coming from the calibration at power up. Does anybody know if it has been improved on the CC2564C?

Thanks

Florent

  • Hi Florent,

This requirement has not changed in the CC2564C. The main reason for high startup current is the fact that the CC256x IC will be running at its full capacity (processing wise) before it is initialized. Once the CC256x is initialized (the FW service pack is downloaded), it will consume less current.

    Best regards,
    Vihang
  • Thanks Vihang for your answer.I guess there is no work around & it seems a bit challenging to power the CC2564 from a higher ESR single cell battery (the current surge resets the board). Actually do you know if there is there any datasheet showing the current at startup for this IC? Thanks again. Florent
