CCS/CC2640: Debugging firmware for CC2640 on SmartRF 06 using CCS 7

Part Number: CC2640

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

Hi,

Let me go through all the things that what i am doing and steps tried for debugging.

I am creating a GATT server that has a profile with single Service. The service contains three characteristics. I have used Bluettooth Developer studio to generate simple_peripheral.c for three characteristics and there corresponding service.c file. I send a write to a characteristic and trying to read that byte array's value at index 0. I store that value on ValueChanged callback to uint8_t. I want to log this value to read. In developers guide for CC2640 it is instructed to use debugging only when there are breakpoints close to each other due to real time nature and lest timing window of context switch. Also it instructs to use Variables tab to read local variables and Expressions to read Global Variables. When i set a global variable to watch while debugging it says "unkown expression". When I use local variables that variable doesn't shows up under Variables tab.

Next step I tried to Log_info0 to log values. Followed the steps to include loggingSetup inside app_cgf.ble. When I use log_info nothing appears inside console Window. Am I missing any steps for this. How can I use for simple_peripheral. Is this log supposed to appear inside memory buffer with ROV. Can you tell the exact steps to do and where to find it. Other posts are misleading and not complete. Saw this log_info example in ProjectZero where it was logged to Terminal window using putty but never works for simple_peripheral.

Third, I tried using System_printf() with the following changes inside app_ble.cfg

"

var System = xdc.useModule('xdc.runtime.System');

var SysMin = xdc.useModule('xdc.runtime.SysMin');
SysMin.bufSize = 512;
System.SupportProxy = SysMin;

"

When I do System_Printf("Hello World") some posts say that the log appear inside SysMin Under ROV. I can see 3-4 such examples where people have succeeded. But I couldn't find SysMin Under ROV. This is what my screenshot looks like and I cant locate SysMIn

Any ways to do debugging correctly with all the steps that I may miss probably. Remember that I am using CC2640 and CCS with simple_peripheral implemented according to code generated from Bluetooth developer studio. Help me find a better way to do debugging.
